Killer Cat!

So I am keeping my moms cat for her while she is in the hospital. The cat is beautiful- a full blooded Persian, and obviously psycho! I have had the cat for about 24 hours and added to our zoo in the country which includes horses, dogs, cats of our own and soon baby chicks. All of our animals all seem to mesh well together, besides the occasional bout of jealousy because I don't have enough hands to pet all of hem at the same time. I am truly am animal lover and animals love me- except for one- my moms cat. Everything has been fine. Everyone and every animal has been going about their day in a peaceably manner. I went to the back of the house and found my moms cat curled up on my pillow on our bed. I was struck by how sweet and relaxed she looked and offered a kind word as I bent down to pick up one of the kids toys. Without warning she hissed and must have felt threatened as I made a forward movement to the toy because the next thing I knew she had jumped about 3 feet and lunged at me with paws out! Instant fear went through my body. The next 15 minutes consider of my trying to get out of my bedroom and the cat continuing to jump at me. I didn't even know cats did that! Like an attack dog! Crazy!! LOL. I manage to escape and had to get my dogs in just to corral the killer cat to a crate where she would not harm the kids or myself!! After the whole fiasco was over, I called my husband who thought the whole situation was humorous and took great pleasure in reminding me that the cat had been declawed. I plan on having him get the cat out of the crate in the morning- it is all fun and games until you have a killer cat going for the jugular!
